Bryan Mbeumo is being sought by Manchester United and Tottenham, with former Old Trafford wing player Lee Sharpe who tells the attacker that there is only one club that he has to do with this summer
Bryan Mbeumo has been told that it is a no-brainer who chooses a move to Manchester United Boven Tottenham.
United has already failed with an £ 55 million bid on Mbeumo, with Spurs hopeful the appointment of Thomas Frank as boss can help convince the striker to make the same switch from Brentford.
The two Premier League clubs are fighting for Mbeumo, but former United Winger Lee Sharpe said he had to choose the Red Devils above Spurs – despite the lack of European football.
United lost the Europa League final against Spurs last month, which means that Old Trafford will not play host for European football until the second time in 35 years.
Nevertheless, Sharpe told the 26-year-old Mbeumo that he should choose United, despite the fact that he will turn his back on the Champions League and the chance to connect with his former boss.
“It will really be a difficult decision for Mbeumo,” said Sharpe akeodds.com. “To go to Tottenham, to play in the Champions League with the manager you have played under and you trust, you know your game and personality that makes the transition a lot easier.
“But there is only one Manchester United and the possibility to play for United does not come many times in your career – maybe not even at all.
“I understand that Tottenham is playing in Europe and may seem like a better option for him, with a manager he knows. But I think if he can be part of this rebuilding and it does well, he will never look back.”
Sharpe, who spent eight years at United, made 263 performances and scored 36 goals, also wondered if Jadon Sancho is good enough to play in the Premier League.
United Winger Sancho spent on loan in Chelsea last season and stands for an uncertain future, with the London Club the Red Devils paid a fee of £ 5 million to not make the move permanent.
Against that background, Sharpe wondered if Sancho was cut for the Premier League and suggested a move back to Germany – where he played for Borussia Dortmund – it is better to suit him.
“It was a shame with Sancho, because he is one of the players that I would pay an entrance fee to go and see,” Sharpe said. “His footwork and ability to hire people is great.
“As a child I wanted his name at the back of my shirt. I want to see him dribbling and beating players. On his day he is great.
“He just doesn't seem to be able to do in the Premier League and the pace that the competition is in. I think he is fast enough, but I don't know if it would be nice to deal with physicality. He can pass people as if they don't agree and sometimes he just seems to take the easy option and pass the square.
“With his assets, he would hire players on every occasion and I don't think he is doing enough. He is incredibly talented but does not do it enough. Maybe Germany fits him more, where teams are not so much and he has more time and space to beat players.”
