Bryce Mitchell previews his return to action at UFC 310 after a 12-month layoff

Bryce Mitchell was knocked out so badly in his last fight that he was left on the canvas, but after 12 months of rest and recovery, the UFC featherweight is hoping to turn a corner this weekend in Las Vegas.

“I've been training a lot harder and I have a sense of gratitude and urgency,” Mitchell told the UFC News crew earlier this week, revealing how the win at UFC 310 will leave him with mixed feelings.

“It will be a great feeling to win; I'll feel like I've been redeemed… But I won't be satisfied because I just want to keep winning, because I feel like I have a lot of work to do and a little bit of time to do it. do it.”

Recovering from such a brutal knockout was incredibly tough, but Mitchell has found solace and solace in his growing family, after welcoming a baby boy (and a new truck) into the world earlier this year.

“I have a son now, he is seven months old, that is the best thing… I have built a house; I don't live in my small, crappy trailer anymore, [and] in winter the house is a lot warmer. I just got a new truck yesterday…A 1977 Ford, I'm just really happy with literally everything that's happened.”

The Arkansas native admitted that the past 12 months have been “the biggest period of growth” he has ever experienced in the sport and is grateful to have spent so much time out of the spotlight.

“By [my] last fight until this fight, because it lasted a whole year and I really didn't get hurt. For about a month after that fight I didn't train that hard because I got hit pretty hard, but after about a month I started training really hard again and I think it was time I needed.

Mitchell will face Brazilian submission specialist Kron Gracie on the main card of UFC 310 this weekend; While that certainly isn't an easy return match, it's certainly the easiest fight Mitchell has had in recent years.

“I think he's very tough, I think he's very durable, and I don't take him lightly,” said 'Thug Nasty' of his incoming opponent.

“I just want to fight him. I don't care where the fight goes, I will be like water and take the path of least resistance.

UFC 310 goes down on Saturday, December 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
