Then Burn believes that the Big game experience of Newcastle turned out to be decisive in their 2-0 win over Chelsea, a match that saw the Magpies after the EFL Cup final as them in the second largest season.
Goals from Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes did Newcastle closer to Champions League qualification while overcome one of their rivals for a top five finish in St James' park.
Chelsea let Nicolas Jackson be sent for violent behavior in the 35th minute, after he caught Sven Botman with his forearm, but the blues still made things nervy for their hosts.
Nick Pope made strong saves to refuse Marc Cucurella and Enzo Fernandez in the second half, while Reece James missed a golden chance shortly for the 90th minutes of Guimaraes.
Burn, who registered an assist and led all Newcastle players for touches (64), accurate steps (45) and won tackles (two, joint with Botman), was aware of the meaning of the result.
“It was huge, we knew how important this was,” Burn told TNT Sports. “We said that the cup final was our biggest game, but this was the one afterwards.
“It wasn't beautiful, but we did the job, so I really don't care at this stage.
“Sometimes it is difficult when they go to 10 men, because you feel that you have to dominate and that you don't want to leave them back in it.
“I think the crowd was a bit nervy and that made us nervy too. We have been together for three or four years, we have that big game experience and we have done really good to see this game.”

Newcastle now has four points of their last two games of the Premier League season-in Arsenal and at home at Everton-Zal secure a top five finish, because neither Chelsea nor Aston Villa could revise them.
Head coach Eddie Howe repeated the conviction of Burn that the red card may have made things harder for Newcastle, while preaching their mental resilience.
“We were really good in the first half, we were very satisfied,” said Howe in his own interview after the game with TNT Sports.
“I think the broadcast of the game has changed and with the score as it was, it was a difficult second half mentally because we wanted to go out and attack.
“That was the message, but on the field it was different, and Chelsea Tweak things and made it tactically difficult. But we hung in it and did really good, mentally, in the second half.
“They had nothing to lose, but I was happy with how we defended. Nick played a major role in victory today, and we crossed the line, that's the most important thing.”
Tonali has now scored three goals in his last eight Premier League performances, more than he succeeded in his first 34 in the competition in advance (two).
Four of his five goals have come to the Premier League in St. James' Park, while all four who have given Newcastle on the ground in that match.
He pushed his finish for the opener, but saw it bouncing on and over Robert Sanchez and admitted to TNT Sports that he benefited from a large piece of fortune.
“I like to score in St James' park, but I think I was a bit lucky for the goal because the shit was like that,” he said. “But I am happy for this victory and for the three points.”
