Then Burn revealed that he still had to celebrate the historic Carabao Cup triumph of Newcastle because of his first call-up for England.
The towering 32-year-old fourth last Thursday his first call for an English team by feeding the Newcastle opening goal in Newcastle in the Wembley victory against Liverpool on Sunday.
Blyth, born in Blyth, now hopes to make his first performance at every level for his country in head coach Thomas Tuchel's first match that is in charge of Friday's qualifying match against Albania.
Burn said: “It was strange. As soon as I left the stadium (on Sunday), my focus switched on it completely.
“I had my family here and the children and we finally came back to the hotel around 12 noon.
“It became a bit noisy and I was just ready to go to sleep! There will be time to celebrate. I know the club has postponed things about a parade (a week) on Saturday, so I think I will celebrate that.
“But I waited a long time for this opportunity and didn't want to spoil it.”
Burn: I had previously overlooked England
Burn, whose career started in Darlington and spells recorded in Yeovil and Wigan, admitted that he felt that an English call-up had passed on him.
“Yes, I think I was overlooked, but I understood,” he said. “What Gareth (Southgate) did to bring England from which it was to compete in the final, showed that his method was very good.
“When the new manager came in, there was a clean slate, but once you have passed so many international breaks, you accept a bit that time has passed, but luckily the new manager has known a chance.
“It probably made me very resilient. I don't think I had a straight-line process in my career, I really started late and it has been very up and down.
“I made my Premier League debut 21 and three years later I was released by Fulham, so I feel it just made me stronger.
“I don't really care about the opinions of people. I have learned that I know what I am good at, I know opinions that are important to me.
“I feel that I have doubted a lot about my career. I doubt that many people who have seen me play in Darlington would say that I would sit here with a press conference for England.”
Burn strives to be part of 2026 World Cup team
Burn said that his goal is now to secure his place in Tuchel's plans for the World Cup campaign and to appear on the largest stage of football.
He added: “I am trying to camp right now. I just want to make a big impression and try to make the next camp.
“But of course it is the dream of every child to play in a World Cup or even to play for your country, so to know that I have that chance, if I accept it, it is special.”
'Tuchel tears up the schedule of England'
Sky Sports News Senior Reporter Rob Dorsett in St George's Park:
“Tuesday is the first time that we see Thomas Tuchel following a training session with the England players.
“He came on the grass with them on Monday after they met in the morning, but that was a warm-down.
“It will be really interesting to see how the body language is and the chemistry between Tuchel and the players. He has a lot of them to get to know.
“Tuchel has torn the plan. Under Gareth Southgate and Lee Carsley and other managers in England, the team trained in the morning.
“Tuchel has decided that he wants them to do their media people in the morning and then the training session is at 4.30 pm. Tuchel wants training to get closer to the kick -off of the competition.”
Merson: England team needs a reset, but Tuchel has no time
The team of England needs a reset, but Thomas Tuchel has no time for that.
How Morgan Gibbs-White was not originally picked is just outside a joke. He played the entire season. Marcus Rashford's played 10 minutes. But I don't blame Rashford, I blame the FA for the contract they have given Tuchel.
They didn't give him time to get it right. He should have had a longer deal with two world cups and a European championship.
He cannot afford to keep looking at squadrons and seeing if Tom, Dick or Harry will be good for next year. He now needs his team. He has to win a world cup.
