Caio Henrique dropped with AS Monaco ‘not satisfied’ with Brazil international

Prior to his cruciate ligament injury at the start of last season, Caio Henrique (27) was one of the most valuable assets of AS Monaco. On the edge of the Brazilian setup, the left back was also crucial for the club from the Princoman, recording four assists in the first six games of the Ligue 1 season.

Then came the ACL injury, so that he was excluded a large part of the campaign. He only returned for the last three games of the Interior season, but with a whole preseason to his name, there was hope that the Brazilian would reach his former heights.

However, that still has to happen. Henrique has struggled with his shape and did not succeed in bringing the same dynamics in the future (one assist in 21 performances in all competitions this season). The former Atletico Madrid-Man, spent as number 10, remains defensive vulnerable.

In response to a question from Get French Football News, Monaco manager Adi Hütter says that there is no hiding place behind the excuse of competition fitness. “He is physically one of our best players. He is very fast. It is more than a year since he sustained his injury,” said Hütter.

Hütter often expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Brazilian international this season. “We cannot accept that high -quality players are not at this level. I think if you think about it, he is not happy (with the situation), and not satisfied, and we have the same feeling. It is our job to bring every player back into his best form, “he said.

Henrique will now have to recover his place in the setup. He was suspended on Saturday for the Monaco match against Stade Rennais, even though he was present at a training, which was attended on Friday by Get French Football News. His absence is not related to an injury and represents a relegation.

“There is always competition for positions,” said Hütter. And it seems that Henrique may have dropped to third place in the pecking order for the left back position. Christian Mawissa, who was taken over from Toulouse FC this summer, was appointed as a central defender, but the 19-year-old excelled when he was asked to play as a left back; During the midweek victory on Aston Villa he was again solid at this position. The twenty -year -old Kassoum Ouattara was also present more prominently this season.

It is now up to Henrique to rediscover his form and to recover his place in the plans of the Princoman club.
