Cameron Carter-Vickers insists title winners Celtic have nothing to prove in derby at Ibrox

Cameron Carter vickers claims that Celtic has nothing to prove when they prepare to travel to Ibrox for the last old sturdy game of the season.

An extensive 5-0 victory at Tannadice ensured that the side of Brendan Rodgers closed the 55th title of the club and their fourth in succession.

Now 17 points ahead at the top of the Premiership with four more games, the Parkhead men crossed the line despite losing the last two Glasgow Derbies.

Although Carter vickers would love to mark the newest championship triumph of the team with a victory on the other side of the city, he thinks that the men of Brendan Rodgers have already more than demonstrated that they are the best side in the country.

“I mean, some people can say that the record is (right),” said the American International. 'I would not use that kind of language personally, because for me it is not just one or two games in the season, but the entire 38. And I think we have shown about the games that we are the best team.

'We definitely want to win the game next weekend and do a strong achievement because at the end of the day we know that it is something the fans care about and we also care.

'Of course we want to win. We want to win every game that we play. And that is no different for who it is.

“We have a few days where we can celebrate winning the competition and then our full focus will be on that game and try to win it.”

Initially signed on loan from Tottenham in 2021, Carter vickers has now won the title in each of his four seasons in Scotland to deal with two Scottish cups and three competition cups.

An important part of the side that the rule of Celtic's Scottish football has continued, the 27-year-old is non-unpleasant that he could never be the celebration of the scenes who came to Taysside after the last whistle.

“I don't think so,” he added. 'Especially with the competition. When you come around the stage where you can conquer the title and get it tied up, you definitely look forward to it because it only shows the effort and all the hard work that we have applied for months. That is a kind of ribbon about the performance, if you want.

'That is why the competition is so special for me. You do not win a competition unless you have given it 100 percent from the previous season, which I am sure if you ask most guys now, they could not even remember what was going on there.

“But it all counts. We know that, we go into every season and it can be seen at this time of the year.

'Personally, the competition is the most important. Winning the competition shows that the efforts you have made, the consistency you have shown. You can only lift that if you earn it.

“It's a special feeling and something to be proud of.”

On a day when Celtic Rangers' record of 55 titles was the same, James Forrest became the most decorated player of the Parkhead Club with 26 awards.

Famous modests of the field, the experienced winger stopped tears full -time when the size of the performance hit him.

Carter vickers says that the 33-year-old has earned the right to be spoken in the same breath as everyone to have worn the famous green and white sweater.

'It is incredibly the amount of trophies he has won, the number of games he played and goals he has scored. All statistics are great, “he said.

“We make jokes with him. Ali (Johnston) always says to him: “You must have a statue outside of Celtic Park, you are a legend”.

'You know how James is, he is so modest. He is like: “No, Nah” and laughs it out. But he's probably. You look at what he has won and the statistics he has at this club, he is sure there.

'He is a top professional, he eats the right things, you always see him in the gym after training, stretching and such.

'You can see the example by what he does instead of just what he says. He is definitely a leader in this team. '
