Despite the fact that they have their chances of getting one about their arch-rivals Argentina, Brazil was sentenced to a Kastendendien with a 4-1 defeat in Buenos Aires on Tuesday evening. Just over a year from the World Cup in the US, Canada and Mexico, the job security of Dorival Junior is a subject of discussion.
After Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior noticed that Brazil 'reconsidering everything' in Argentina, questions about the future of the Selecao appeared. Dorival was by no means the first choice at the CBF and is in fact the third coach who took the lead over the games for Brazil since the World Cup 2022, when they crashed to Croatia in the quarterfinals.
According to Globo Esporte, the work of Dorival was already questioned by the hierarchy, with Brazil fourth in South American qualification behind Ecuador and Uruguay, and against Argentina, admitted four times in the qualifying campaign for the first time. CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues was recently re-elected as president, and he was the one who publicly stated an ambition to sign Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti in 2023.
The Italian manager was reportedly the top choice of Rodrigues after Pep Guardiola, and Ronaldo Nazario recently revealed that Ancelotti had negotiated to take over in Brazil, but Los Blancos decided to keep him. With Rodrigues and Company now to alternatives, the name of Ancelotti is back on the table, just like former Atletico Madrid defender and the current Flamengo manager Filipe Luis. Ancelotti's contract in Real Madrid and the club World Cup in June and July are the most important thing that makes Brazil move for him.
Ancelotti has a contract until 2026 with the Santiago Bernabeu, and if he has a successful seasonal authors in terms of silverware authors, President Florentino Perez will probably maintain him. He also stated that he will never willingly leave Real Madrid. If Los Blancos ends the season without La Liga or the Champions League, it would not be a surprise if Brazil made a movement.
