Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that both Kylian Mbappe and Ferland Mendy will not be present on Wednesday evening for their collision against Getafe, because they do their best to come back for the Copa del Rey final. On Saturday they will compete against Barcelona in Sevilla, but the French duo is expected to come back.
Mbappe ran a single trunic against Arsenal last week, forcing him in the Champions League and out of their victory at Athletic Club. In the meantime, Ferland Mendy has been out of operation last month after collecting a hamstring problem. Both trained on Tuesday with the rest of the team.
“They are not ready for tomorrow, but they will train nowadays and I think they will both be available for Saturday's game,” Ancelotti told the media on Tuesday.
Mbappe was whistled when he left the field against Arsenal, and again on Sunday when his image came on the big screen in the Santiago Bernabeu. Ancelotti said that the only thing he was wounded by was his injury, instead of the reaction.
“He hurts the injury because he can't help the team. He does everything he can to be ready on Saturday.”
Ancelotti also discussed his options at left back, with Mendy, Eduardo Camavinga and Fran Garcia all in fight against Barcelona.
'[Fran Garcia] has improved. He has played more and has almost always performed well. In some games I used Camavinga because of the different characteristics that the two have. Camavinga is more used to playing indoors, and sometimes when you play Vinicius on the outside, Fran has more difficulty showing his quality. “
Although Mendy was generally the first choice of Ancelotti in large competitions when fit, there is no clarity about how ready he will be after a month for the Copa final. David Alaba was used there against Arsenal, but many saw the use of Camavinga there as a hint that Ancelotti might consider him there for the final.
