Carlo Ancelotti admits that his future in Real Madrid doubts and claims that his time can already be 'tomorrow', but the club will always be grateful.
Madrid was aggregated by Arsenal from the quarterfinals of the Champions League when they looked a shadow of the team that won the competition in two of the last three seasons.
The Ancelotti team is also four points behind Barcelona in Laliga with seven more games.
Ancelotti's contract with the Bernabeu runs until 2026.
When asked for his long-term future as Real Madrid boss, Ancelotti said: “It could be this year, next year when my contract runs out … There is no problem about it. But if I am ready here, I will be grateful to this club. It may be tomorrow, in a year or in 10 years, but I will be grateful for this club. And it is completely stop.
“We have done very well in recent seasons, but this year we had to suffer. Things did not go as expected, but in sport there are because there are no unbeatable teams.
“Arsenal was better than we did. We tried to do our best. Maybe the destroyed penalty was a turning point. That could have changed.
“But Arsenal defended very well. We found it difficult to find spaces. We were better than normal in our level of intensity, but it wasn't enough.”
Brazil 'hopeful' on naming Ancelotti
Brazil is supposed to remain hopeful to name Ancelotti as their new head coach.
A source has told Sky Sports News that Diego Fernandes, a prominent Brazilian businessman, is trying to get a potential deal.
It is understanding that Fernandes has ties with the team of Ancelotti and the Brazilian football federation (CBF).
Although not officially affiliated with the CBF, it is said that Fernandes is in close contact with the 65-year-old and his involvement is described by the source as “very strategic”, as part of the CBF's attempts to bring the Italian to Brazil.
However, it is clear that there is increasing concern in the Brazilian camp that there is time to make the agreement and the national team cannot afford to stay without a head coach until August, with two world cup qualifications the following month.
Their next games will be against Paraguay and Ecuador in World Cup 2026 qualification and Brazil are without a manager since the Falling Dorival Junior after a 4-1 loss for Argentina in March.
Ancelotti's current contract with Real Madrid ends in June 2026 and Real is linked to Bayer Leverkusen manager and former real player Xabi Alonso.
Ancelotti has been generally reported as the goal of the National Team of Brazil since Copa America last year. Allegedly they are also interested in Jorge Jesus, the current manager of Al Hilal in the Saudi Pro League.
The CBF is contacted by Sky Sports News.
