Carlo Ancelotti: Real Madrid will appeal Vinicius Junior red card – ‘It was two yellows’

Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has stated that they will appeal against Vinicius Junior's red card after he was dismissed for the second time in three years against Valencia, and only the third red card of his career. The Brazilian raised his arms at Stole Dimitrievski and was dismissed after a VAR review.

Off the action, Dimitrievski sparked a reaction after telling the Brazilian to his face to get up after falling in the box. Vinicius shot up and used both hands to push Dimitrievski, but not in the chest, but in the face. Ancelotti still felt it wasn't worth a broadcast.

“We will appeal. What we think is that it was not red, but two yellow colors. He was sent off, but the team responded to this difficulty, as well as to the missed penalty. We will appeal, I don't know if they will accept it. “I didn't say anything to him, I congratulated the players, I told them the same things as here.”

Ancelotti was reluctant to say that Vinicius had been tricked into sending out by Dimitrievski.

“It was first a tap from the goalkeeper and then a push from Vini. I think two yellow cards were enough, the matter was over. I don't want to say he fell into a trap. He has tried to do things right, as always, sometimes he succeeds and sometimes not so much. But it ends here. I hope I can play the next game. And that's all, he remains decisive for us.”

After the match, Vinicius took to social media to apologize to his teammates, but he could be sidelined for some time. If their appeal is unsuccessful, Vinicius faces a two-to-four match ban for his actions.
