Carlos Prates breaks his silence after UFC 314 fight is canceled weeks out

UFC fan favorite Carlos Prates will unfortunately no longer compete on UFC 314, where the event takes a late hit.

Carlos Prates is one of the most exciting hunters that come through the Welterweight Division, which currently represents the most popular team in MMA, the Fighting Nerds.

'The Nightmare' is currently on a win with four fights since achieving a contract through the Contender Series of Dana White, with his last victory against Neil Magny.

And with that he was coupled Welterweight Stainer, Geoff Neal, with them originally planned to fight at the Blockbuster UFC 314 event on 12 April.

Carlos Prates breaks silence after the withdrawal of Neal

Unfortunately, however, the UFC 314 card took a big hit, as it was announced during the UFC Mexico City broadcast on Saturday that 'Handz or Steel' Neal is outside their planned fight.

UFC commentator Jon Anik revealed that the promotion would not be looking for a Late-notice opponent for the Brazilian and that he would be turned for another event instead.

However, fans may not have to wait long until they get Fight News with some prates, just a few hours after the disappointing news, the 31-year-old dropped a big hint.

“News and good news are coming soon!” Prates revealed on Instagram.

Prates is still outside the top 10 on 170 pounds, but the division recently suffered a big shake-up when Sean Brady Leon Edwards dominated in the Main Event of UFC London.

The victory of Brady emphasized that there is some transitional period in the vicinity of the top of the division, with Prates hopeful that he will be part of it.

UFC 314 will be one of the best events of the year

Although the event loses 'The Nightmare', it is still one of the best events of 2025, with the map littered with incredible battles from top to bottom.

In the main event, Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopes are fighting for the vacant featherweight title, after the surprise title of Ilia Topuria.

The Co-Main event is also an incredible fight between Paddy Pimblett and Michael Chandler, with the 'The Baddy' most difficult test so far.
