Carlos Prates brutally honest on why Ian Machado Garry hasn’t headlined UFC event

Carlos Prates claims that he is the A-side in his fight with a higher-ranked competitor Ian Machado Garry.

After his UFC career with four-right KOs in 2024, the Fighting Nerds' Ster Carlos Prates is in his second main event in a row against Ian Machado Garry.

Prates smoked an eternal competition Neil Magny at UFC Vegas 100 last November to earn a ranking.

Now the 31-year-old this Saturday will give the UFC Kansas City of the T-Mobile Center in a Fight Night card with a handful of stars such as Michel Pereira, Anthony Smith and Giga Chikadze.

From a title -eliminator loss for Shavkat Rakhmonov on UFC 310, this is the first UFC Main Event spot of Machado Garry in 10 fights.

Carlos Prates also calls Ian Machado Garry 'boring' to head themselves

Looking at the 15-1 CV of Machado Garry, it appears that Prates is not so impressed by what he sees of the calculated striker.

Machado Garry has a finishing speed of 38% in the UFC with five of his fights that go the distance, and scary ko artists such as Geoff Neal and Michael 'Venom' page clean up in controversial decision victories.

Compared to his 100% KO rate, Carlos Prates says that 'boring' Machado Garry only keeps the most important events in the spotlight this weekend.

“I went to the company for 1 year,” Prates told MMA Hoje.

“2 main events and 4 knock -out bonuses …

“This boy has been in the UFC for 4 years and has not won any bonus in his life. A number of decisions, boring contact fights,” said Prates about Machado Garry.

“If he is fighting in the main event today, that's because I chose him. I said I wanted to fight him.”

Carlos Prates: 'You go out with a defeat but with a full bag'

Machado Garry has a only bonus in the UFC for his Headkick Ko by Daniel Rodriguez in 2023.

The Irishman has the chance to earn another $ 50k with a finish of Prates, which did not look in the UFC lately.

Machado Garry accepted this fight with Prates in the relatively short term and made shots on the Brazilian on social media, a 'lender' and fake hunter.

Prates, who has responded since, says that Machado Garry will earn more money with this short-notice kans and says he will thank him for it after he has poured him out on Saturday.

“You will earn some money there,” said Prates about his upcoming opponent (H/T: Central do MMA).

“After he wakes up, he will have to say:” Thank you Carlos Prates, you let me make good money … “

“You go out with a defeat with a full bag,” Prates added.
