Jamie Carragher and Craig Bellamy Both Fancy Newcastle United to qualify for the Champions League of next season.
A top five finish in the Premier League is probably enough to book a place in the European top match, and Newcastle jumped in fifth place on Monday evening by cruising a 3-0 win in Leicester.
Speaking at Sky Sports after that match, Jamie Carragher and Craig Bellamy were put on the spot and asked to predict which five teams they expect to fly the flag for England in the next edition of the Champions League.
Both former players have tipped Chelsea to miss the top five, despite the men of Enzo Maresca who were currently in fourth place, while mutually assumed that Liverpool and Arsenal would be eligible.
Aston Villa is now seventh, but – together with the second placed Arsenal – still in the Champions League of this season.
Carragher predicted that Villa would 'just miss', but Bellamy supported them to finish in the top five, in which Welshman also suggested that the men of Unai Emery could even secure qualification by becoming European champions this season.
Bellamy said: 'Newcastle of what we have seen tonight and the momentum of winning a first cup in several years, I have a feeling with Newcastle.
'Man City is usually looking for competitions, so it is not unusual that they are in this printing phase and villa, I have a funny feeling with Aston Villa and the Champions League you know.
'I felt it in September, the experience of the manager at this level, they are organized and have powerful options. I felt like all British teams, Aston Villa is the one to pay attention to this tournament.
'Would we all want to see forest? Who wouldn't? I grew up in the 1980s with Brian Clough, they are a special club because of that man. It would be a great story, but my feeling is to Newcastle, Man City and Aston Villa.
Carragher added: 'Looking at the luminaires and Newcastle have a game in hand, I think Nottingham Forest will just do it, I think Chelsea will miss because they have the most difficult luminaires.
'Newcastle will make it and I think Man City will just make it. The last four games, you would expect MAN City to win all four, even with the problems they have had this season. I think Aston Villa will just miss it. '
