Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal was too careful on Sunday, despite the fact that he had beaten Manchester City 5-1.
The Gunners went through the first 104 seconds by Martin Odegaard's third goal of the season.
But Carragher felt that they chose to play too passive until after Erling Haaland led the equalizer of the home town for 10 minutes in the second half.
Arsenal ended the game very strongly and explicitly won thanks to further goals from Thomas Partey, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Kai Havertz and replacement Ethan Nwaneri.
But Carragher was still worried and he brought them up during the Monday evening football on Sky Sports.
He said: 'We talked a lot about how Mikel Arteta and this Arsenal side try to win the competition. It felt as soon as they were in charge, there is a feeling of “we stick to something”.
“I think they should change. I may be incorrectly proven, but if Arsenal continues in that spirit, it can come back to chase them. '
On Sunday's victory, Arsenal moved nine points ahead of the city, but still left them six behind leaders Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
The players and fans of Arsenal did not keep back in celebrating Sunday's big victory, but Carragher warned them that their joy might be short -lived if they don't end the season as champions.
Carragher used the 1996-97 title race as an example when he remembered how Newcastle was 5-0 in October in October to finally end seven points behind them.
“It is one of those games that they will remember for a long time, to beat Man City 5-1,” Carragher continued. 'But they will remember it even more if they win the title.
'What they don't want is that the rivalry Newcastle and Man United had all those years ago, but Man United won the competition. Newcastle says: “We defeated them 5-0”. What does it matter? They didn't win the title. '
