Jamie Carragher has criticized Mohamed Salah for being 'selfish' after the Liverpool striker indicated he would likely leave the club at the end of the season.
Salah suggested he was “probably more out than in” after his match-winning display at Southampton that left leaders Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the Premier League.
His second goal of the two was his 100th away from Anfield for Liverpool in all competitions, but with his contract set to expire at the end of the season, Salah has yet to receive a new offer.
Carragher was disappointed with the Egyptian's decision to cast doubt on his future as clashes against Real Madrid and Manchester City quickly approached.
“There's obviously a big difference in valuation at the moment, where Salah and his agent value themselves, whether that's financially or in terms of contract length, and what Liverpool are doing,” Carragher explained on Sky's Monday Night Football Sports.
“The reason Liverpool haven't offered a contract yet is because Salah will turn it down, so they are still in talks. I'm desperate for a meeting in the middle but I'm very disappointed with Salah.”
“Liverpool has Real Madrid during the week and Manchester City at the weekend, that's the story for Liverpool at the moment.
“We are all very aware, especially the local reporters in Liverpool, that in the seven years he has been at the football club he has been put in the mixed zone twice, which is his right, and that is absolutely fine .
“But he decided to quit for the third time at Southampton because he had won Liverpool the game and put it off.”

It puts the Merseyside team in a strong position to regain the league title.
“The most important thing for Liverpool this season is not the future of Mo Salah, it is not the future of Virgil van Dijk and it is not the future of Trent Alexander-Arnold,” Carragher said.
“The most important thing is that Liverpool win the Premier League. That is more important than any player, and if he continues to comment or his agent continues to post cryptic tweets, that is selfish. That is thinking about himself and not about football.” club.”
