Carragher makes Alisson feelings clear after PSG display with Schmeichel dig

Jamie Carragher has praised Alisson as the 'biggest goalkeeper' in the history of the Premier League after his performance against PSG.

The Brazilian drew nine saves on Wednesday evening in the first stage of the Champions League Last 16 -Easy play between the French giants and Liverpool. Those performance turned out to be the key because the Reds held a clean slate at the Parc des Princes, even though the hosts had 27 shots.

It is remarkable that they scored with their only shot on goal by Harvey Elliott's 87th minute strike to claim the ultimate win. Alisson was not surprisingly called Man of the Match called after his display.

That saw him choose to represent Liverpool in the media round after the competition, including with CBS, for those who work Carragher as an expert. The Reds icon made clear how high he assesses Alisson prior to the interview.

He also supplied a brutal excavation at Schmeichel, which stood next to Alisson in Paris. Carragher said: “What we have is the biggest keeper in the Premier League history alongside Peter Schmeichel.”

Schmeichel is routinely stopped as one of the best keepers in football history, who has won five Premier League titles and has been declared UEFA's keeper of the year three times. In the meantime, Carragher admitted that Liverpool Alisson was due for their victory over PSG.

“That is one of the biggest robberies you will ever see in football,” Carragher added. “I can't believe what I've just seen, PSG was absolutely excellent, they beated Liverpool.

“The last time Liverpool won the competition, Alisson Becker made a rescue against Napoli in the last group match and they could have scored if Napoli had scored. That is always found as a decisive moment.

“That was not a rescue tonight, that was perhaps the biggest performance of his career, especially in a Liverpool shirt. If Liverpool starts to win the competition, which they have a big chance, those performance will be remembered for years.”

Alisson himself admitted that his performance in the French capital was the best of his career. But he also greeted his defenders for their efforts and insisted that he would not have been able to keep a clean slate without them.

“Probably from my life I think – so far, hopefully. The manager told us how difficult it would be to play against PSG, how good they are with the ball and we have to be ready to suffer. When you see the opponent's clips, you know what is coming,” he said TNT sports.

“The majority of the chase is always to have someone to make the player who gets the chance to think a little more. So it makes my work easier, all the trouble that the team makes. At the end Harvey comes in and the goal scores, it's incredible and a great story for us. A great night.”
