Carragher predicts who will come out on top in the Premier League title race

Jamie Carragher has revealed who he thinks will win the Premier League title this season in his latest round of big 2025 predictions.

Liverpool have climbed to the top of the table after a near-faultless start to Arne Slot's first season and hold a commanding six-point lead over Arsenal, having won 13 of their 17 games so far and suffered just one defeat .

A 1-0 win against Ipswich yesterday lifted the Gunners above fellow contenders Chelsea, who currently have 35 points and are seven behind the leaders.

Enzo Maresca and his players have tried to diminish their title chances, but Carragher believes an exciting three-horse race is indeed underway. However, the expert is convinced that one team will eventually lose the pace.

“It's between Liverpool and Arsenal,” Carragher told The Telegraph.

'Enzo Maresca has done an excellent job at Chelsea this season. I wasn't sure when the club opted not to keep Mauricio Pochettino last summer, but they appointed a coach with a specific profile and Maresca brought the squad together.

'Having said that, I agree with him that Chelsea are not quite ready to become champions yet. They still need a goalkeeper and a centre-back before they can go all the way.

'Arsenal's biggest problem at the moment is their injuries. They have managed to avoid too much disruption over the past two years, but their squad is overloaded this time around.”

He added: 'But I speak with my head and heart when I say Liverpool will guide them to first place. Arne Slot's attacking options are the strongest in the Premier League. My only concern for Liverpool is whether they incur injuries to their big players.

“If they can avoid them, they'll be hard to catch. Chelsea will finish third and despite their problems, I see Man City finishing last in the Champions League.”

Carragher also made his predictions on the three clubs that will be relegated from the top flight and named his favorite Carabao Cup winner.

He said: 'I fear that the clubs who were promoted from the Championship last season – Ipswich, Southampton and Leicester City – will return there, and if Liverpool don't win the Carabao Cup, hopefully Newcastle United or Tottenham will.

“We need new names on the domestic cups in 2025 and beyond.”

Liverpool are also in the race to win the Champions League this season, according to Reds legend Carragher, but he has warned they will face stiff competition from serial winners Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in a four-way battle.

Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield remains uncertain and the 32-year-old superstar could negotiate a pre-contract deal with foreign clubs from January 1.

But despite the lack of clarity off the pitch, Salah continues to impress for the Merseysiders, with 19 goals and 15 assists in all competitions.

As a result, Carragher says Salah is in position to be crowned Premier League Player of the Year and winner of the Ballon d'Or next year, and has also named him as his favorite to win the PFA and FWA player of the year to take home. Year awards.

“Salah's goals and assists are always fantastic and there is no greater admirer of his talent than me, regardless of what his fan base on social media might say!” he said.

“Salah has stated in the past that he wants to become the second African to win the Ballon d'Or, after George Weah in 1995. I think he has a great chance.”
