Carragher reveals where Salah ranks in his top 5 Liverpool players of all time
Jamie Carragher was full of praise for Mohamed Salah after the Egyptian scored twice in Liverpool's 3-2 comeback win over Southampton on Sunday.
It came after the former Liverpool defender criticized Salah for his controversial post-match interview outside St Mary's Stadium, where he said he feels he is 'more out than in' amid stagnant contract negotiations.
Carragher said: “I have to say I am very disappointed in Mo Salah. That interview last night… Liverpool have Real Madrid during the week and Manchester City next weekend. That's the story for Liverpool at the moment.
“If he continues to comment or his agent continues to spread cryptic tweets, that is selfish. That is thinking about oneself and not about the football club.'
Salah has scored 10 goals and provided six assists in 12 league games this season as he enjoys another monumental season in terms of performances.
Since joining Liverpool from Roma in 2017, the 32-year-old has scored 223 goals in 367 games. Carragher argued that Salah is among the club's best ever players and ranked him as their fifth best player in history.
“I would say Mo Salah is one of the top five players to ever play for Liverpool,” Carragher said.
'I'd go for Steven Gerrard, Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Ian Rush and put Mo Salah in fifth.
'I rate him that highly. That's how special this man is.'
As for contract negotiations, Salah complained that Liverpool have not offered him a new contract – his current contract expires at the end of the season – and he gave no clear indication that he wanted to stay at the club, stressing that the decision was still has not been taken. it.
'I'm probably outside more than inside. You know I've been at the club for years. There is no club like this.
'But ultimately it's out of my hands. Like I said, it's December and I haven't received anything about my future yet,” he said.
As reported by Mail Sport, Liverpool have rejected a lucrative £150 million bid for Salah from Saudi Arabia's Al-Ittihad in 2023.
If a new contract is not agreed between the two parties by the end of the season, Liverpool fans will have to endure the sight of their fifth all-time top scorer leaving Anfield on a free transfer.
