Jamie Carragher has cited the need for six new faces to come to Liverpool if they want to stay in the Premier League this season
Jamie Carragher admits that Liverpool probably needs six signing sessions if they want to continue to evolve – even though they have dominated the Premier League. Arne Slot barely acted in his first summer, but is now being tipped to supervise different arrivals in July.
Liverpool has continued to excel with the play staff that Jurgen Klopp built, with the majority ready to win a second top flight crown, which contributes to the person who claimed them in 2020. Despite that, holes remain in an outdated team that many believe they reach the end of the cycle.
Often a team that dominates the Premier League with few cracks in his armor, but Carragher claims that “no football team can ever be considered the completed article”. The former red has tipped the leading lights in Liverpool to build a team that overshadows this current crop – even if they do not match their performance.
He said in the Telegraph: “We look at a very good Liverpool team on the edge of greatness. My suspicion is that Arne Slot and the recruitment team above him have built a better team this year in the course of his reign and this year's likely success.”
A lot has been made of the deterioration of Manchester City after four consecutive Premier League titles. They had to act quickly, signed several players in January, to tackle major problems and Carragher admitted that this Liverpool team not only needs the strange signature to keep them at the top.
Instead, he has called for a series of new transfers if they want to stay on top and maintain that remarkable arrivals are needed, regardless of whether Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander -Arnold – who are all out of contract – choose to stay in Anfield.
He said: “When a team wins the competition, you expect to be on one or two major signing sessions to keep the Juggernaut moving. To be honest, if you look at the team of Slot, it feels like he may need six for the following summer. That is a statement that you would expect about an under-performing team, or one who needs an output.
Carragher has cited the need to add two new faces in the back line: one to challenge left back Andy Robertson, which has ordered his place almost different year and a new center of center, so that the pressure of Dijk and Ibrahima Konate is achieved.
The Sky Sports Pundit also wanted to see two new midfielders bought, one to illuminate the burden on Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister, with a different required in a playing role to “score more than Dominik Szoboszlai”. Carragher also called two forwards to get into the front three to compliment Salah.
