Carvalho’s father urges him to leave his new club in astonishing Instagram post
Former Liverpool striker Fabio Carvalho has been told to leave Brentford by his father in a now-deleted social media post.
Carvalho joined Brentford in a £27.5m move from Liverpool this summer after featuring for several Premier League clubs.
The Portuguese forward has had limited game time at Brentford so far, making just two starts in the Premier League.
However, Carvalho was involved in every one of the Bees' top flight games this season until their goalless draw against Everton on Saturday.
Thomas Frank's side were reduced to 10 men at Goodison Park but held on to earn a point against the Toffees.
Brentford shared the result at the final whistle on Instagram with the caption 'A solid point in the road for the ten man Bees'.
Carvalho's father Victor expressed frustration at his son's lack of involvement despite the result, writing: “Son, you have to leave this club.”
The message has now been deleted.
Carvalho had previously admitted that his father had played a key role in convincing him to sign for Brentford in the summer.
After signing a long-term contract with the club, Carvalho revealed that Victor had encouraged him to move to West London.
“I watched Brentford a lot, especially when they played top six teams, they always fought and that's exactly what you want to see,” Carvalho said in August.
'When I was on the bench at Liverpool for the away match two seasons ago [the 3-1 win]Brentford were all over us!
'But I've been keeping an eye on Brentford; my father looked at the Benfica [pre-season] because he is a big supporter of Benfica and said: 'Look, Brentford have a good team'.
Carvalho has made a total of 14 appearances since joining Brentford last summer, but the majority have come as substitutes.
The Portuguese forward has scored two goals for his new club, including one in the Premier League against Wolves, as well as a goal in the Carabao Cup against Sheffield Wednesday.
Carvalho made 21 appearances for Liverpool before moving to Brentford, having joined the Reds from Fulham in 2021 for £5million.
During his time at Liverpool, Carvalho was loaned out to RB Leipzig last season, resulting in him being recalled by the club.
He then enjoyed a more productive loan spell at Hull City after joining in January, scoring nine goals in 20 appearances for the Championship side.
Brentford are currently eleventh in the Premier League, having achieved seventeen points in twelve games so far.
