Casemiro is pondering his Old Trafford future’ following Newcastle nightmare

Man United star Casemiro is reportedly considering a move away from the club this month as a number of Saudi Pro League teams continue to monitor him.

The Brazilian has had a difficult start under Ruben Amorim and was picked by the experts after United's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle on Monday evening.

After the match, United legend Rio Ferdinand claimed Casemiro – and midfield partner Christian Eriksen – did not have the legs to play in Amorim's system.

With questions swirling over his future, reports claim the Brazilian is open to a move away this month, amid interest from six Saudi parties.

According to UOL, Al-Hilal, Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Ettifaq and Al-Qadisiyah are all keeping tabs on the experienced midfielder.

The newspaper further claims that Casemiro is open to a move to Saudi Arabia and that there are no “major obstacles” standing in the way of a deal.

Al-Nassr are the most likely candidates to secure Casemiro's signature as they look to reunite him with former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo in Saudia.

The report comes after Ferdinand took aim at the Brazilian and suggested that midfield is an area United need to strengthen during the window.

He said: 'I think we're looking at two players in this team who came in for a lot of criticism after yesterday; Casemiro and Eriksen.

'One of the most important elements of this system is that it needs legs and physicality. And Eriksen and Casemiro, those are probably two of the weakest parts of their games, so that doesn't help.

“But I would still say if they could train and he could implement his philosophies, these two players wouldn't be so out of place.

“So I don't think it's as simple as, 'Let's add two more mobile players and it will all be better.' I still think we'll have the same problems.'

There have been questions over whether the Brazilian fits into Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 system, but discussions over Casemiro's place at United have been rife for months.

At the end of last season, Jamie Carragher urged the midfielder to move to MLS or Saudi Arabia after a string of disappointing games.

The former Liverpool defender hailed the Brazilian as a 'great' of the modern era but claimed 'football has left him' and believed the former Real Madrid star should have dropped a few levels this summer.

He said: 'I always remember something when I retired. There was a saying that I always remember as a footballer: “Leave football before football leaves you”.

'Football has left him at this top level. He needs to stop this level of football and move on.

'I know there are children on the bench, but I think Casemiro, very seriously, as an experienced player, should know tonight that he only has three games left to play at the highest level. The next two league games and the [FA] cup final.

“And he should be thinking, 'I have to go to MLS or Saudi.' I'm dead serious. He's getting older, the people around him need to tell him this has to stop.'
