This weekend Barcelona travel to Balaidos where they take on Celta Vigo in their MD14 match. The match will be a special one for Marcos Alonso, who will face the Catalans for the first time since his departure in the 2024 summer transfer window.
Alonso left Barcelona after his contract expired, and after being linked with clubs in Spain and abroad, he ultimately opted for Celta. He has made a strong start in Vigo and he will be hoping to get one over his old club on Saturday evening.
Alonso did not play a prominent role during his two seasons at Barcelona, but despite this he harbors no ill feelings towards the club (via Marca).
'I don't need revenge. Last year I had no continuity and it is complicated, especially because of the injury. Now I'm enjoying football again, I'm very happy and looking forward to the match.”
Celta have struggled this season, so there is a good chance that Alonso can help his side get a positive result against Barcelona. However, it will be much easier said than done.
