CELTIC 4 FALKIRK 1: No more shocks to the system as Premier Sports Cup holders power through to last eight

Losing a cup of tie can be considered an accident. Two successive losses would have seen on carelessness.

Three months after a rare bleach appeared on their copybook under Brendan Rodgers in domestic knock -out competitions when they lost Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final, Celtic never run the risk of their grip on the Premier Sports Cup.

In full control of the first whistle to the last against Falkirk, the men of Rodgers made light work to continue to the last eight.

The first half of the first half of Daizzen Maeda, the second half of the second half of Alistair Johnston, the banging effort of Dane Murray and his own goal by Liam Henderson, did the damage before Keenan Adams resulted in a spectacular comfort to the visitors.

Last September in this competition, Falkirk had noticed that they were a team on the rise. Twice the men of John McMlynn led that day before they were buried with four late goals.

They just didn't have enough about themselves here to cause the same degree of concern. In all facets of their game, apart from their finish in the first period, Celtic was on the point.

The 40th Cup strop of the two spells of Rodgers brought a thunderous 38th victory. The constant unrest about a lack of new faces outside the field has not overshadowed the performance on it.

Falkirk was a game, but simply did not have the opportunity to play through the Celtic press or to get the most out of their rare opportunities. If the men of Rodgers had had their shooting boots in the first half, this could have been a route.

It said a lot about the lack of transfer activities of Celtic so far this summer that Kieran Tierney was the only starting player who was not in the club on the day of the Scottish Cup final. Only two of the nine-man bank, Benjamin Nygren and Shin Yamada, fell into that category.

Given his need for a goal, the place of Adam Idah on the couch was surprising, with Johnny Kenny instructed to find the net.

About 15 months after he last goal in a 3-2 victory over St Mirren, Scott Bain was back in the colors of Falkirk.

The keeper was unfolding a well -known scene. Celtic played with pace and goal, dominated the ball. Maeda and James Forrest have the visiting box peppered with crosses.

Kenny was centimeter away from flashing home the opener 10 minutes after Forrest had put one on a plate in front of him.

While Callum McGregor's Curler never worried from Bain, Henderson's quirky back pass almost in the far post of the keeper.

With the Bairns unable to stand up for air, the Tierney strike was defeated by the keeper.

The attack continued. Kenny has set up the smart pass from Luke McCowan. Bain was the same as the strike.

Dylan Tait's body control on Tierney allowed Arne Engels to try his luck with a free kick from the right. This time the distant post came to Falkirk.

Arriving at the point of 26 minutes, the opener of Celtic felt inevitable for a long time.

Forrest's strike was blocked. McGregor drove the ball to the rear post. Tierney had the presence of mind to nod it back on the goal. Maeda threw herself to the ball to open his account for the campaign with a flying header.

It was only after he fell behind, which Falkirk was a threat. Calvin Miller, once of this parish, forced Viljami Sinisalo to stretch out and turn a bouncing stroke for a corner.

A bad cross -field pass by Forrest Gifted Ross Macivor an opening. Again, Sinisalo was the same as the strike.

Forrest seemed to be everywhere. He buried his head in his hands when he led McCowan's cross over the top when it was easier to score.

Miller was just as striking for the visitors. A smart take and strike at the start of the second half was directly with Celtic's Finnish keeper.

Looking to score in his 17th consecutive season, forced the fierce drive of Forrest Bain to jump to the right and make a nice save.

If there is such a thing to try too hard, Miller was guilty. While Falkirk tried to build up a complication deep on their left, he had taken too many accents and had his pocket picked by McCowan.

The ball was brought to Johnston who took one stable touch before he bent the ball into the far corner. Job so well done.

The icing on the cake was provided just after the hour of Murray. The towering defender came up the far corner of the net around the corner of Arne Engels. All the way to celebrate the signing of a new long -term contract.

Rodgers' threw on a series of subs. The impact of Hyun-Jun Yang was immediately. His burst along the left channel preceded a cross that turned Henderson into his own net.

Although they missed a lot of middle, you could certainly not accuse the application of the men of McGlynn. They had a long time for their launchful efforts with the game disappeared, a pretty brilliant strike from full-back Adams that offered from 20 meters in the upper corner.

Despite the fact that this season was admitted for the first time in a competitive game, it was still a good job for Celtic.

Yamada looked a handful when he replaced Kenny through the middle. Blessed with physicality and pace, the attacker certainly has a lot of the attributes so that he can become the newest Japanese player to make an impact at Celtic.

In the danger of becoming the forgotten man of the midfield of Celtic, Paulo Bernardo also showed up well when he was forwarded. Only a deflection prevented the Portuguese from opening his account for the season.

Auston Trusty looked better to get 90 minutes under his belt, McCowan was excellent with and without the ball, while Tierney just crossed the evening.

Kairat Almaty is perhaps a greater threat when they dispute the first stage of the Champions League play-off next Wednesday.

Despite a bewildering lack of investments in the side so far, approach to the Celtic that challenge in good condition.
