Brendan Rodgers “Hopes and Prayt” Celtic fans will not be banned from their Champions League play-off in Bayern Munich after another disciplinary UEFA knowledge.
The Scottish champions were on a suspended ban on fans after a series of fines about the use of pyrotechnics, and an incident in Villa Park on Wednesday fueled a potential activation of the punishment.
Photos show someone under the traveling support with a Green Smoke Cannister, who was then thrown on the field during the 4-2 defeat of Celtic by Aston Villa.
The hoops will be confronted opposite the Bundesliga side next month and the club has told fans to be aware of a possible ban on the blurring bone as booking to Germany.
Rodgers told Sky Sports News: “Our real Celtic supporters who are connected to our club, it's the last thing they want to hear. Boys and people who travel worldwide, at home and leave for years,”
“That is not what we would like. However, it has been a highlight of things that have come on our way as a club.
“I only hope and pray that, especially in a game of such a size, or a game in that regard, but certainly this next game, that it is not taken away from those supporters for which Celtic means everything.”
Celtic will have to beat Vincent Kompany over two legs to reach the Champions League last 16, where they would be confronted with Bayern Leverkusen or Atletico Madrid.
“I think we wanted to get there initially, at the start of the competition, and we did that, Rodgers added.
“A real iconic club in world football, so we look forward to it when it comes.”
Until now, Jota is the only new arrival in Celtic in January with the wing player in the team for Sunday's game in Fir Park after he was not eligible to play against Villa in midweek.
Rodgers is convinced that he will add to his team before Monday's deadline, but is not hopeful that Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney will return to Glasgow before the end of the season.
“For me it would always look so that it would be the summer,” he said.
“I know that there is a lot of work going on behind the scenes.
“Nothing can be explained to that, but there has been a lot of work that went on, so my opinion and hope has always been that we would be stronger out of the window.
“It is our job to keep improving the team.”
