Daizzen Maeda struck late for Celtic to give them a lifeline in their play-off draw against Bayern Munich, while she lost 2-1 in the first stage in Parkhead.
Match report
Michael Olise and Harry Kane brought Bayern in full control over the draw with the goals on either side of the break until the Scottish champions brought themselves back with a filthy goal of Maeda 11 minutes from time on a corner.
Celtic insisted on an equalizer and refused to settle for only one goal when Bayern threatened to crumble under pressure, but the hosts could not find a way by Manuel Neuer in the final phase.
Olise, the former wing player of Crystal Palace, had broken the stubborn resistance of Celtic only a few seconds before the break with an unstoppable near-post attack and England Captain Kane then appeared unmarked at the rear post four minutes after the restart to to double their lead.
Celtic never gave up and eventually found a breakthrough from a corner when Maeda went up close and scored his fourth Champions League goal of the season to keep his teams hope for the second stage of the next Tuesday in Munich.
