Celtic’s Schmeichel ruled out for five to six weeks after Denmark injury

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will miss the next five to six weeks to recover from an injury that has picked up the international duty.

Schmeichel, which this season has saved a HOG-HOGE 19 clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership, took the problem in Denmark's Nations League defeat against Portugal.

The 38-year-old made 46 performances in all competitions this campaign, but his latest setbacks could see him missing seven games for Celtic.

The side of Rodgers visits St. Johnstone in the competition on Sunday before he organized Kilmarnock and again met Killie in their Scottish Cup semi-final collision in Hampden Park.

The Scottish Cup final takes place on 24 May, where Schmeichel is expected to be available again for that competition, if Celtic would reach the showpiece competition.

“This is just something that we will look at day after day, but the timeline that was given to us was perhaps there (5-6 weeks).”

“Kasper tends to think that it might not be that long, but certainly in the near future he will not be available.”
