Chael Sonnen not convinced by Conor McGregor’s reasoning for UFC retirement… ‘There’s a whipping waiting for you’

UFC legend Chael Sonen believes that he knows the reason why Conor McGregor will probably not return to the UFC Octagon.

It is now almost four years since Conor McGregor was the last time entering the UFC atrocation when he broke his leg at the end of the round during his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier.

During that time, the Irishman was plagued to return several times and was planned to make his official comeback last July against Michael Chandler on UFC 303, but withdrew due to a broken toe.

Now 'The Notorious' puts most of his time in promoting BKFC events, which last year became co-owner of the promotion, even in the future a potential fight in BKFC teases.

Chael Sonnen responds to McGregor's recent pension edition

Although the UFC fanbase has held the hope that the former double champion would return to the cage, he recently dropped a huge hint with regard to his UFC pension.

The 36-year-old stated that he is happy with everything he has done in the sport and instead will focus on the president of Ireland.

However, UFC legend Chael Sonen is not convinced that that is the most important reason for the recent pension hint of McGregor.

“For which part of it would he come back? We told him that he does not need the money, we can see that his time is occupied, I mean, many fighters have to stick to the sport because they have nothing else to do,” Sonen began to explain during an episode of Good Guy Bad Guy.

“He has a beating for him, we can go 155 pounds, we can go 170 pounds, we can come up with a weight class, there is no athlete under contract with the UFC that he can beat.

“I don't even mean that to be a jerk, when they bring it back, put him in a main event, suddenly you ask him to do five rounds. We have a man who can't breathe for a full round.

“This is just a reality, there is nothing to come back … There is no reason to come back, there is an A – lashes await you,” Sonnen went on.

Michael Chandler still holds bizarre hope for McGregor Fight

Before McGregor's shock with a pension, Chandler stated that he intended to call him if he beats Paddy Pimblett on UFC 314.

Even now, after 'The Notorious' comments, Chandler remains hopeful that one day he will finish the story with McGregor.

The MMA veteran claimed that the road from McGregor to the UFC is still going through him and that if he decides to return, he knows that he must be confronted with Chandler.
