Agnes Beever-Jones kept the four-fold hope of Chelsea alive when her stop-time goal sealed a 2-1 comeback victory on Liverpool in the semi-final of the ladies Fa Cup of Saturday.
Chelsea came from behind in the first half, and Bever-Jones established the draw at Kingsmeadow in the 94th minute when extra time gowned up.
The side of Sonia Bompastor dominated the early stages without disturbing the goalkeeper Rachael -laws of Liverpool and was left in the 21st minute.
Marie-Therese Hobinger split the defense of the blues with an excellent Ballet, where Olivia Smith stuck before he led a low shot in the top left corner.
Hannah Hampton denied Hobinger shortly thereafter with a nice near-post-rescue, but Chelsea found an equalizer in the first half of the stop time. In it, Cuthbert benefited from a deflection to lobe the laws, who could only help with the inside of the pole and across the line.
Laws denied Bever-Jones and Johanna Rytting Kanyd after the break, and Liverpool almost took a winner against the game when Taylor Hinds hit the bar in the 90th minute with a quirky cross with a quirky cross.
Yet Beever-Jones had the last word, getting up high to meet the cross of Sandy Baltimore and send a running header over the laws with the wrong foot.
