AC Milan ended their 2025 pre-season campaign with a 4-1 defeat against Chelsea on Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Match report
The home team took an early lead of two goals through its own goal of Andrei Coubis and a Joao Pedro strike, and then the defender saw for a last man challenging not long after. Liam Delap scored twice in the second half, including a penalty, both sides of the consolation of Youssouf Fofana.
It is quite surprising that Massimiliano Allegri has made 10 changes in the side that pulled Leeds United in Dublin on Saturday. Only Yunus Musah continued, such as Mike Maignan, Fikayo Tomori, Samual Ricci, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao all.
It took Chelsea less than five minutes to take the lead, and it was a strike of accident for Andrei Coubis. Reece James ran in a cross from the left and it seemed to Ricochet in the Romanian defender from just a few meters.
Less than three minutes after their first goal, Chelsea received a second. Pedro Neto was the payment of space to drive to the box and his cut ball was led from close by Joao Pedro, with hectares of space.
Milan had their first big chance of the game in the 17th minute when Rafael Leao moved a ball behind the run of Alexis Saelemaekers. His stinging shot was well saved, then Lea led the rebound over the ball.
A nightmare start for Coubis was even made worse, just after that great chance, with the middle behind Joao Pedro as the last man. The referee showed no clementia even though it was a friendly and gave him a straight red card.
Cole Palmer came in the centimeters twice after scoring a third for the home team, and both chances were free kicks from a central area. The first rattled the left layout and the second steered Maignan extended but just finished wide.
Milan then had a good period even though he was a man. Saelemaekers had blocked a free kick in a dangerous area, then a glimpse into a brilliant header, but unfortunately a garden had sought offside to make his run. Not long after, the Portuguese winger shot in the back and had saved a shot from a narrow angle.
Luka Modric stood up for Samual Ricci during the break and he got on the ball early, including a shot three minutes in the second half that Sanchez did not really test.
In the 55th minute, Youssouf Fofana really had to score after being behind, but he tried to take the ball around Sanchez and it was eventually shortened when Saelemaekers hoped to shoot in what an empty net would have been.
The referee Mike Salisbury, after 20 minutes in the second half, he gave a penalty to Chelsea, for what was assessed as an error by Yunus Musah on Estevao. Liam Delap took responsibility and scored emphatically.
The Rossoneri earned some reward for their attacking game, and they finally got a goal with 20 minutes to go. Saelemaekers played a nice one through the ball to Fofana, who did not make the same mistake as before to overpower it, instead to catch up in the nearby pole.
