Match report

Tosin Adarabioyo and Joao Felix both scored twice, with Christopher Nkunku also getting on the scoresheet to knock the League Two side out of the competition.

Chelsea started brightly and had the chance to take the lead from the spot after Yann Sango'o got his hands on the ball in the 16th minute, but Nkunku saw his penalty brilliantly saved by Harry Burgoyne, who then smothered the follow-up.

Tosin, who skimmed the woodwork with an early header, found the breakthrough six minutes before half-time, with his long-range strike off Callum Jones on the way in taking a huge deflection.

Nkunku made amends for his penalty miss five minutes after the break, reacting quickest to Renato Veiga's parried shot to turn the ball over, but three goals in seven minutes sealed Morecambe's fate, starting with Tosin scoring a goal after 70 minutes stunning long-distance strike.

Felix then rounded off his impressive performance with a quick double from the edge of the box, capping off a fine counter-attack for his first, before bending in a second just two minutes later.

Morecambe almost gave the away fans something to cheer when Harry Macadam beat Filip Jorgensen after a corner, but his glancing header was cleared off the line by Axel Disasi.

Data debriefing: in the hat

Despite a slightly underwhelming first half, Chelsea ensured there would be no FA Cup shock on Saturday, while also getting back to winning ways after going winless in their last four games.

Chelsea have now progressed after 36 of 37 FA Cup matches against lower division teams, including each of the last 21 in a row since a 4-2 home defeat to Bradford City in January 2015.

They were the dominant side throughout, scoring 28 shots, eight of which were on target, and despite Burgoyne's best efforts in the first half he could not keep the score down.

It means Morecambe have now lost all four of their Premier League opponents by an aggregate score of 15-1 as their struggles continued this season.
