Ex-Chelsea and Southampton star Ryan Bertrand have signed his son, Marcell Washington, a professional deal-arsenal that came through the ranks with the blues

Arsenal has drawn Marcell Washington, the son of the former Chelsea and Southampton -star Ryan Bertrand, from the blues while he came to his first professional deal pens that came through the ranks in West London.

The 17-year-old left back came last season at Arsenal from their rivals in London as a trial and is impressed to close a deal with the Gunners. It also means that he is the newest young talent to leave the Chelsea setup, many of whom have left elsewhere.

The family tree in the Washington family means that there are high expectations for him. His father also came through the ranks in Chelsea and made huge headlines when he was admitted to play in the last victory of the Champions League in 2012 as a young person.

He eventually left Stamford Bridge and enjoyed his best days in Southampton, where he was enormously influential. His exploits also delivered him in England -recognition and Washington, who will not bear 55 at Arsenal in the next term, admits that it was incredible to have him advise him on his development.

Washington said: “I think it was such an honor to have him taken by clips and to lead me by games that I played. He is really passionate about making me a better player and probably a better version of him. We might have a bit of a fight about it, but you get it out of him.”

Washington underlined his ambitions with Arsenal when he added: “I think it is of course a really big club. The club always strives to win trophies. I am just looking to be an addition to that and see what I can offer the club.”

If the teenager wants to contribute to the field, he has to compete with people like Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly for a place in the first team, but it is happy that he will have such a quality around him, unclear that they can help him improve him during the baby years of his professional career.

He added: “They are all great players playing in and around my position, which I think it is really a good thing and training with them and getting the opportunities is really good. Because you want to clearly learn from players with such experience and such a high skill with all the games.”

Mikel Arteta has continued to give youth a chance with Lewis-Skelly who enjoys a Breakout season. Ethan Nwaneri has also become a mainstay with the first team, all of whom give Washington the hope that he can get a chance.
