Chelsea left back Caleb Wiley has been on loan for the rest of the season, after the US International had spent the first half of the season with Strasbourg.
The blues signed Wiley from MLS Side Atalanta United for about £ 8.5 million in the summer before they were immediately sent on loan to the Ligue 1 side. The 20 -year -old only played six times for Strasbourg – who are owned by Chelsea Chief Todd Boehly and his companions – but was recalled by the club on Deadline Day after he had trouble having an impact in France under head coach Liam Rosenior .
So Chelsea wants to get more minutes for Wiley and hope that he is more likely to do this in the championship with the Hornets.
In a statement, the Hertfordshire Club said: “Watford FC has left Left Back Caleb Wiley for the rest of the season. The 20-year-old joins Chelsea after the first half of the 2024/25 campaign to be spent with Frans Top Flightt Side RC Strasbourg Welcome to Watford, Caleb!
Wiley goes directly to the Watford team of Tom Cleverley and hopes to help them push their way to the championship table, after struggling in 12th place. However, the Hornets are only three points of the play-offs, but in a competitive season that only sees eight points separated and 16th.
It was a quiet deadline for Chelsea in terms of income, but there may be more expenses next to Wiley on the Deadline Day.
Forward Joao Felix seems to be on loan from AC Milan, only six months after signing the blues in a £ 46.3 million deal, while Ben Chilwell is ready to sign for Crystal Palace on loan.
Defender Axel Disasi has also been associated with a move, with Tottenham and Aston Villa who are both interested in the Frenchman.
