Chelsea has announced that Liverpool completed the signing of Sam Kerr.
In a tweet from the official X account of the club, Chelsea announced that the Reds had completed a permanent deal for Kerr.
Fortunately for blues fans, however, the tweet announces that the deal does not refer to the captain of Matildas who placed its trade in West Londs since he joined the Club of the Chicago Red Stars in 2020.
Instead, the post referred to the Scottish namesake of Kerr, who completed a permanent move to Merseyside from the German giants Bayern Munich after he initially came to the club in January.
While a few minutes later the club gave their joke by sharing a screenshot of the new signing of Liverpool, accompanied by the caption, “Ohhhhhh you thought …” Many fans were still recorded by the list.
A fan wrote: 'Stop the admin, my heart stopped for a few seconds'
Another agreed: “Okay, that was a stressful few seconds, not going to lie!”
A third joke: 'This is July !!! We are no longer in April !! '
Chelsea's Kerr the entire last season on the sidelines while she continues to recover from an ACL injury that has excluded her since January 2024.
Kerr was recently seen next to her fiancé, former West Ham star Kristie Mewis.
The couple has been dating since 2020 and welcomed a son, Jagger, in May of this year.
The Scottish Kerr has meanwhile made 11 ladies Super League performances after it at Liverpool in January.
The midfielder also scored her first goal for the club when the Reds West Ham beat in the Chigwell Construction Stadium.
