Chelsea consider two Jadon Sancho transfer alternatives as £25m move hangs in balance

Chelsea has the option to permanently sign Jadon Sancho of Manchester United in the summer transfer window, but still consider alternatives because he has not convinced

Chelsea is not entirely convinced by Jadon Sancho and have reserved two potential alternatives for the summer transfer window. Sancho is on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United until the end of the season and the blues have an option to make the move permanent for a fee of a maximum of £ 25 million.

The winger wrote “everyone wishes in the future” on social media when his deal went on Deadline Day last summer, which suggests that he is not going to return to his parent club. But Sancho is not fully convinced at Stamford Bridge and has only returned two goals and six assists in 29 performances in all competitions, to complicate his future.

Chelsea has an option to withdraw from the deal with United, but it costs them £ 5 million. It is understood that they are still planning to sign Sancho, but keep their options open, have already agreed deals for sporting midfielders Geovany Quenda and Dario Essugo for a combined reimbursement of £ 62.4 million. And that can mean that Sancho is signed, but also another broad man.

The Jamie Gittens of United Winger Alejandro Garnaacho and Borussia Dortmund were considered in the transfer window of January and both are still on the radar, as reported for the first time by BBC Sport. In many ways they are more attractive positions than Sancho.

Garnacho and Gittens are both 20 years old and are faster and more direct than Sancho, which at the age of 24 lost the spark he had in Borussia Dortmund. He has only one assist in his last 18 performances for Chelsea, with only two shots on goal in those competitions.

Former Chelsea defender William Gallas has suggested that his old club should withdraw the deal to permanently sign Sancho. “He is a talented player, everyone knows this, but we don't know why he can't perform and can't show what he can do,” he told Astro stage.

“At Dortmund he was beautiful. At Manchester United it didn't work well for him. He came to Chelsea and in the beginning we saw that Sancho of Dortmund, but then he disappeared.

“I don't know what the problem is, but at the moment he can't stay in Chelsea because he has to do more. If you play in the Premier League, you have to play every game at the highest level. It's not easy, but you can't just play well for a few games and then relax.”

United Manager Ruben Amorim froze Marcus Rashford and Leende Sancho and has hinted that he sees no way back for the Loanese. Much will depend on their versions between now and the end of the season, both of which play for their future.
