Chelsea from Enzo Maresca is in the mix for the qualification of the Champions League, but stopped from the top five of the Premier League when they could only sign with Ipswich on Sunday
Chelsea runs the risk of being forced to significant sales if they do not qualify for next season's Champions League, it is claimed. The blues are already in the top four of the Premier League for a large part of the season, but have fallen to the sixth after just drawing with wrestlars Ipswich Town on Sunday.
At least five Premier League teams play in the Champions League of next season, while the figure can be blown up if an English side wins the Champions League of Europa League and ends sixth or lower in the table. The side of Enzo Maresca, however, is a point outside the top five and still have to be three of the teams above them among them in their last six games.
It would be the third consecutive season without Champions League football. The blues were not in Europe at all last season after ending the previous campaign in the lower half in their own country, while participating this period in the Conference League.
According to the sun, it cannot reach the next term of the Champions League that cost them no less than £ 70 million. That amount is calculated by taking the £ 20 million on its way to a Europa League campaign of the estimated £ 90 million of reaching the knockout phases of the top club competition of European football.
The situation of the blues is exposed by the threat of a UEFA fine for violating limits for financial losses. However, if the Champions League income is refused for another year, this may affect their transfer plans.
Professor Rob Wilson, an academic lead at the university campus of the football activities, told the sun that he believes that Chelsea could be financially “on a knife edge” – with a 'great assetal purchase' one potential way out. The same publication also points to a headache that could arise in Europe in the next term because of the Multi-Club model of Chelsea.
Blues owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali also have Ligue 1-Kant Strasbourg, currently at the qualifying place of the Conference League, but only three points on the drift of second place Monaco. If Chelsea and Strasbourg are in the same European competition for the next term, Boehly and Eghali would be forced to place their shares of the French club in blind trust – something that Manchester United and nice owner Jim Ratcliffe had to do in 2024.
Chelsea still has another means to stimulate their treasury, even if they miss the qualification of Champions League. Their involvement with the club World Cup gives them part of a prize pool of nine digits, with the best part of £ 100 million to the winner.
The Maresca team is signed in a group with Flamengo and Esperance for the summer tournament. However, the fourth team in their group still has to be confirmed, with Club Leon removed from the competition on rules for multiple club ownership.
