Jamie Carragher has made a prediction that does not fit well with the fans of Chelsea prior to the new season while the blues are preparing for Champions League promotion after a spell of the competition
Chelsea fans have hit Jamie Carragher about his predictions for the Champions League campaign from Chelsea. The former Liverpool -defender has suggested that the blues will not come from the group stage of Europe's Premier competition.
The side of Enzo Maresca finished fourth in the Premier League to earn their way back to the tournament after two seasons outside. The West -London team found European success in the UEFA Conference League and followed that with a victory at the World Cup club in the United States.
But that was not convincing enough to convince Carragher that Chelsea could follow that with an exciting return to the Champions League.
“Hot look at Chelsea of mine,” Carragher said on the overlap. “I don't think Chelsea will qualify from the Champions League group phase.”
That caused some consternation between the panel next to Carragher. Colleague expert Jill Scott said, “Oooh, that's a hot take.”
Chelsea is expected to progress through the group stage with eight automatic qualifications from the group of 36. Teams ending from the ninth to 24th are entering a play-off to reach the last 16.
Last season Liverpool was at the top of the rankings after their eight games, while Arsenal finished third, Aston Villa was eighth and Manchester City was 22nd. Blues fans were not so friendly to be tipped to not follow in the footsteps of those teams.
“This clown is deliberately discrediting @chelseafc to get relevance,” said a supporter. “Without Chelsea in everything he says, he is as stupid as his face looks like.”
“Carragher has been crying about Chelsea since Zola,” said another. A further user added: “At this point, Carragher uses Chelsea to stimulate his numbers”
“That guy is just a attention seeker,” said a social media user. “Forget him. His remark about Chelsea, whether it is good or bad, doesn't matter. “
It is not the first time that Carragher Chelsea Ire has turned on for the new season.
“When I look at Chelsea, I think of what you did in the club World Cup – everyone wanted to win it,” he told the debate about overlapping fan.
“Real Madrid really wanted to win, PSG did, and Manchester City too, all we classify as the best teams. So I think it's a big thing and it will help build a connection between Enzo Maresca and the supporters, who wasn't really there last season.
“I am not sure if the Chelsea will push closer to the title. When Chelsea does business, it feels in recent years, it feels like many players change without anyone really lifting the level. I know Colmer is great, but all your wings feel the same.
“A perfect example is [Jamie] Gittens who come in and leave Madueke – there is no height, and I see that with many positions at Chelsea. “
