In recent years, Chelsea has drawn several players from Spain, but they will not sign any of the most talented young people in the country because they have made the decision to end their interest in a summer agreement.
During the winter transfer window, Chelsea made several offers for Deportivo La Coruna-wing player Yeremay Hernandez, who was a striking artist in the Segunda during the 2024-25 season. The 22-year-old scored 15 goals and registered five assists in 39 performances, and his performances led to a lot of interest being generated from all over Europe.
Chelsea was one of who likes to sign Yeremay, but for the time being they will no longer consider an approach. According to ESPN, they ended their interest after the player's decision to sign a new long -term contract with Deportivo.
On Monday, Deportivo announced that Yeremay had signed a new deal until 2030, with the option to extend for another three years. According to the report, this made him the best -paid player in the history of Segunda, and in the process it has ended every speculation of a possible relocation during this summer's transfer window, which will be reopened on 1 July for business for Spanish clubs.
Serie A Side Como, which is managed by former Barcelona and Spain -midfielder Cesc Fabregas, were also interested in Yeremay, but after the negotiations were demolished between the two parties earlier this month, the player quickly chose to sign a new contract with Deportivo, who will watch La Liga in 2026.
There are still opportunities for Yeremay to leave when his release clause is activated, but this will probably not happen. His previous deal had his buy -out at around € 30 million, but with his new agreement the appreciation has increased considerably – which means that every danger has been removed.
