Chelsea offer biggest hint on transfer plan which will ‘100 per cent’ help struggling star

Chelsea -Baas Enzo Maresca wants to bring in a striker to offer Nicolas Jackson competition – and believes that ultimately the Colombian would make a better player

Chelsea -Baas Enzo Maresca admits that he “100 percent” wants a new frontman who offers Nicolas Jackson competition. The Senegal International is familiar to lead the line since he arrived at the blues, but there is a lack of depth past him.

Despite their enormous investment, the West Londoners miss a productive attacker with Cole Palmer who led their goal lists – as he did in the previous term. Jackson is only one behind him on 14 goals, but that is nowhere close to the figures placed by some of the other players in the Premier League.

The blues go to the last two games of the Premier League season without the suspended Jackson, which was carded red in Newcastle last weekend. Younger Marc Guiu is the only other recognized NO9 in the Maresca team, but he has been injured since the beginning of February.

Although he had Christopher Nunku in their books, Maresca repeatedly claimed that he does not see the Frenchman as a natural attacker and is more connected to the output door.

The Chelsea boss was without obligation when he questioned whether Jackson struggled without anyone to put pressure on him, almost guaranteed that he started the starting role, but was unclear that he wanted to bought reinforcements that had been bought.

He said: “I can't answer now because I don't know the other part, if a no 9 was here. Certainly, with us, in my personal opinion, he has grown and improved a lot. If there was a NO9, is it better for him? I don't know.” When asked if he wanted someone to provide competition in the future, then added: “100 percent”.

Chelsea is linked to Liam Delap this summer in an attempt to add more firepower to the team. Last year they were behind Victor Osimhen, but eventually missed the Nigerian, who went to Galatasaray on loan.

Ivan Toney was also a target, but the former man of Brentford left the Premier League and went to Saudi Arabia. It means that the blues stay firmly on the market for more goals, but Maresca claimed that he “had no regret” about not bringing in a new face in January.

The summer recruitment of Chelsea is likely to be influenced by whether or not they make the Champions League. They stay in a fight for the top five, but missing it would have major financial implications for the club.
