Chelsea owners ‘happy’ with Enzo Maresca even if they miss Champions League

Enzo Maresca has the support of the Chelsea board -despite an alarming malaise post -Christmas.

The blues placed a miserable display on Friday evening because they were beaten 3-0 by Brighton.

Chelsea did not succeed in gathering a single shot on goal when they drop in a third loss in four games.

The side of Maresca seemed to be involved only two months ago in an unlikely title race.

But a serious slide since the turn of the year, she has only had 12 points taken from a possible 30.

And they continue to show a persistent form of travel sickness, without a victory since 8 December.

A frustrated Maresca called the Brighton debacle the “worst performance” since he arrived in the summer.

He added: “This is the worst moment since I arrived, but we are still there and we have to end in the best way.”

According to athletics, the Chelsea sign is still “happy” with how Maresca has performed this season.

Despite some dissatisfaction, it comes under the fan base, with the end of Brighton on Friday a noticeably emptying for the last whistle.

The report adds that Maresca was not expected to reach Champions League football in his first season.

Chelsea slid back to the sixth after the results at the weekend and stood for a mountain of uphill to finish in the top four.

Maresca's task is not said that it will be threatened, despite “we want our Chelsea back” to be heard of trust on the Amex.

The Italian also called on his team to call on the team spirit that they showed in abundance earlier this season.

He continued: “We need them all at the moment to be more positive.

“Because this is a moment when we have to stay together and try to finish in the best way.”

Maresca had to operate with an exhausted team, such as Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu recently came to a busy injury room.

The blues are confronted this weekend with a tough trip to Aston Villa.

Maresca added: “We are in a time when we feel that we can easily admit and struggle to score.

“There are many things that we can do better. This is the moment we have to stay together.”
