Deportivo La Coruna appear determined to hold on to their crown jewel until the summer, with winger Yeremay Hernandez unlikely to be going anywhere anytime soon. The 22-year-old winger has been in the spotlight all season after his adjustment to Segunda went smoothly, scoring eight goals and providing three assists this season.
Chelsea have had a €15 million bid for Yeremay rejected by Deportivo, according to Fabrizio Romano. Their intention was to make him part of their group of clubs, with a move to Strasbourg on the horizon for him. However, Depor believe they have convinced Yeremay to stay at least until the end of the season, when they would be more open to a move away.
That said, the match remains in Chelsea's hands. Yeremay's current contract, which runs until 2030, contains a release clause of twenty million euros. If the Blues can convince the young talent to move, they will only have to increase their offer by €5 million. It is not the first offer Chelsea have rejected, with Romano also citing other offers for Italy's Yeremay.
Napoli and Como are the Serie A sides that have shown interest in him, while Newcastle United and Manchester City have also evaluated the tricky winger. In Spain, Las Palmas have publicly indicated that they are interested in repatriating the Canary Islander, but given the interest from larger parties, it may be difficult to compete financially, both now and in the summer.
Especially if the alternative is an immediate move to Chelsea or Strasbourg, then staying at Deportivo may be best for Spain's Under-21 talent. Currently, Yeremay starts every week in front of a packed stadium of 20-28,000 fans, and we may don't forget that this is still his first full season in professional football. Likewise, there is most likely life-changing money on the table.
