Chelsea set to recall loanee in Jan as Chalobah faces 3 months on the sidelines

Chelsea are set to recall a third player from their Premier League loan spell, just days after it was decided defender Trevoh Chalobah would return this month.

Chalobah was loaned out to Crystal Palace for a season after being banned by Enzo Maresca, but impressed during his time at Selhurst Park and will now rejoin the Blues for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea have recalled Chalobah with defender Wesley Fofana currently on the sidelines, while Brighton have expressed interest in signing fellow centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo.

Meanwhile, relatively unknown Argentinian youngster Aaron Anselmino's rental period at Boca Juniors has also ended prematurely.

Now, another player alongside the duo will return, but only due to an injury that is expected to keep him out of action for ten to twelve weeks.

Armando Broja – similar to Chalobah – was deemed surplus to requirements at the start of the season, with Nicolas Jackson, Joao Felix, Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer largely entrusted to lead the team's attack.

The Albanian international made 27 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season, but scored just two goals and just one strike in the Premier League.

Everton moved quickly to sign the 23-year-old on a temporary basis as soon as Broja became available, but are now on the verge of terminating the loan deal as the striker deals with a new injury complaint.

Broja has been struggling with an Achilles tendon problem all season so far, meaning he has only played six senior games for the Toffees.

The youthful striker appeared to have put that complaint behind him after being named in Everton's squad for their 2-0 FA Cup third round win over Peterborough last week, later coming off the bench.

However, disaster struck when Broja went down injured not long after his performance and was given oxygen as he was carried off the field on a stretcher.

Medical tests have now been carried out and newly appointed boss David Moyes has confirmed Broja is likely to be sent back to Stamford Bridge for rehabilitation.

“We think he will be out for somewhere between 10 and 12 weeks,” Moyes said.

'They're his anklets. It will probably mean that there is a possibility that he will have to return to Chelsea.'

Broja's departure means Everton under new owners The Friedkin Group could enter the January transfer market to strengthen their attacking ranks in a bid to avoid relegation.
