Chelsea star Cole Palmer reveals what his McDonald’s order is

Cole Palmer has opened up about his life off the pitch after a whirlwind 18 months for the Chelsea star.

Palmer, 22, is in the midst of another stunning season, with the attacking midfielder having scored nine goals and provided six assists in just fourteen Premier League games.

It comes after an astonishing breakthrough campaign in 2023-24, when Palmer won the PFA Young Player of the Season award following his £42.5million move from Manchester City.

Palmer has developed into one of the best English players, while his relaxed and unassuming personality off the field has endeared him to fans.

During the November international break, when Palmer withdrew from the Three Lions squad with an injury, he made a surprise appearance at a McDonald's drive-through.

And in an interview with the Men In Blazers podcast, Palmer opened up about that trip – which came after he was also spotted at Stockport's League One match against Wrexham – and revealed what his standard order from the popular fast food chain is.

“Double cheeseburger, twenty nuggets and a strawberry milkshake,” the 22-year-old explained.

During his visit to McDonald's, Palmer left attendees shocked as two staff members posed with the Premier League star as they took out his iconic 'cold' party.

Meanwhile, at the Stockport match, Palmer seemingly did his best to remain anonymous as he was seen in the crowd wrapped behind a balaclava, something which he explained is different from when he was not as well known.

“Yes, it (my life) has changed a lot,” he said. 'You can't go to certain places because you'll be bothered and you won't be bothered because you just want to chill.

'If you go to a shop around the corner you might think 'oh, someone's watching me or something'.'

Considering the major change in his life, Palmer also revealed what he missed the most as he now has global status.

“I'm going to play five-on-five,” he said. 'I swear it's really true. Yeah, just going to five-a-side with friends and playing and stuff.”

Palmer's cult status has been cemented by his aforementioned 'cold' celebration, with the move being replicated far and wide across professional and grassroots football.

And Palmer explained that he enjoys seeing his celebration gain wider recognition.

“It's a good feeling when I see it,” he added. “Especially when I see random kids doing it in random places after they score in grassroots football or something like that, so that's fun.

“That's what it feels like (I wasn't not that long ago).”

Palmer, who scored in Chelsea's 5-1 defeat to Southampton on Wednesday, is back in action on Sunday when the Blues take on Tottenham.
