Chelsea star confirms where future lies amid Saudi transfer interest – ‘It’s done’

Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella has shown that a new contract has been agreed, although the club still has to officially announce that the Spain has put International Pen on paper

Marc Cucurella has confirmed that he has signed a new contract with Chelsea, after he has been associated with a move to Saudi Arabia earlier this summer. Cucurella joined the Blues of Brighton in 2022 for a fee of around £ 63 million.

And the left back has cemented itself as an important player under Enzo Maresca and played the most minutes of every Chelsea star last season. Cucurella's contract would be carried out until 2028, but he has now agreed to an extension after it appeared that Al-Nassr was interested in signing him.

The side of Cristiano Ronaldo would be a diver plot for the Spain International, but Chelsea has moved to end the speculation. Although the blues still have to make a formal announcement, Cucurella confirmed the news after the 5-1 victory of Chelsea over West Ham on Friday.

“Yes, it's done,” Cucurella Tol Spanish media after the victory of Chelsea in the London Stadium. “We have already done it. I am very happy, the club has given me the confidence and I am very happy to be here. Hopefully I will have a great year.”

Cucurella helped the opener of Joao Pedro against the hammers, while Pedro Neto, Enzo Fernandez, Moises Caicedo and Trevoh Chalobah were also on target. However, they had a blow after Cole Palmer had sustained an injury to global warming.

Palmer would start, but had to be replaced in the short term due to a groin problem. After the game, Chelsea -Baas Enzo Maresca said: “Cole in the last four or five days was not one hundred percent.

“Today he tried in global warming, but he felt something, so we preferred not to take risks and make it worse, and we will see the next hours whether it is something important or not. It's a lies problem.

“It is all the palace game that he was not one hundred percent for, but he tried to make a big effort for the club, for the team, for the fans, because he is really enthusiastic about the team. Tonight he tried it again, but it wasn't very good.”

Thinking about the result, Maresca added: “The start was not the best in the way we had planned with the injury of Cole Palmer and a goal after five minutes admitted, but the reaction of the players is something that is very good for me.

“Especially you could see how sure they were about the game plan. They stuck at the game plan and next to the ball and went on in the same way. I am very happy, very impressed.”
