He was eventually shot from the cup when Wonderkid Estavao took it from his hands and it lifted it to the crowd with a big smile on his face.
Palmer was next to him when he lifted the cup and enjoyed looking at the young Brazilian enjoying the moment.
In the meantime, the Maresca competition manager hinted that the blues were not completed on the transfer market.
The blues are heavily tipped to sign Manchester United wing player Alejandro Garnacho.
The club could also dive on the market for a new center after the ACL injury to Levi Colwill.
Maresca said: “It's a priority for me to get a new center back.
“We will see if we are going for it.
“Levi is a fantastic player. What we achieved last season is because of him.
“He played a lot of games with me, I love him. We're going to miss him.
“We also try to find different solutions.”
The club could also see Nicolas Jackson leave before the window closes.
The striker trains alone and was omitted outside the team for the game against Leverkusen.
