Josh Acheampong is led in his Chelsea career by two of the defenders of the club, with one who acts as his 'Uncle' and another who lives his Champions League dream
Josh Achampong grew up listening to the national anthem of the Champions League – and can't wait to run to the music himself.
ACEAMPONG, 19, came to Chelsea as an eight -year -old and went to major European competitions on Stamford Bridge as a child when he could only dream of making the first team. Chelsea defender Acheampong has already played in the World Cup of Club and enjoys the experience of playing in the United States with his own “Uncle” who looks at him.
Acheampong revealed that teammate Tosin Adarabioyo takes care of the young people who come through who have given him a friendly nickname in the dressing room.
England Youth International Acheampong said: “Tosin is the oldest in the team. He gives me advice if I have to ask him questions. He will get me in the gym and things like that, so he is good. He is known as an uncle Tosin.
“He gives advice to stay focused. Always, every day, do your best, work your best, do extras. Of course there are difficult days. Training can be difficult, you may play a bad game, but you have to try to stay focused.
“Not many people can say that they came to the US to play football. All my school friends and things like that. When I show them videos and so, they are all really enthusiastic for me.
“I thought I was recently playing in the Champions League, to be honest. I always went to the Champions League night at Stamford Bridge when I was younger. Dulang that's just very exciting.
“I remember watching Juventus when Trevoh Chalobah scored. When we won, of course it watched TV. So only a few days. I think I was Tiktok and a video came from then Trev scored. And I thought:” Hopefully that could be me someday. “
ACEAMPONG has been a target for clubs – including Borussia Dortmund – for a loan movement for the coming season, but the Londoner is aimed at staying in Chelsea and the quarterfinals with Palmeiras on Friday.
He added: “I just concentrate on my football. Hopefully we win our next game and we win the tournament. I really enjoy it. It is good to play in good weather. It was fun.”
