David Seaman believes that Kepa Arrizabalaga could make a stunning return to Chelsea while Enzo Maresca goes to a reliable keeper.
Despite the plugs of cash splashes on Stamford Bridge under Todd Boehly, many are determined that the blues are still in urgent need for a shot-stop-stop-stop-stop. Current no. 1 Robert Sanchez feels the heat after back-to-back blunders against Wolves and Manchester City, fans and critics left his suitability for the role.
The Spaniard has produced five errors that have immediately resulted in Doelen this season – more than anyone else in the Premier League – and talking is now used to who could replace him between the sticks. Summer Signing Filip Jorgensen has not blown anyone away, but another keeper in the books of Chelsea, Arrizabalaga, shone this season during his loan period in Bournemouth.
The 30-year-old, who joined the blues of Athletic Bilbao in 2018 at £ 71.6 million, fell out of grace among former manager Thomas Tuchel but shoots at all cylinders in the Vitality Stadium. And, given the shaky form of Sanchez, Seaman thinks that Kepa could be ready for a Chelsea comeback as soon as his loan spell is.
“He came back and he didn't have the best times he went there for the first time, but he shows people what he can do [at Bournemouth]. He is capable of, “the legend of Arsenal and England, noted on the Zeeman, says Podcast, offered by Betway.
In a scenario that Chelsea supporters had their heads scratched, Maresca seems to be strong behind Sanchez, although the former keeper of Brighton has to recognize his game. Sanchez's incorrectly engaged outing of Doel in last month's defeat against City Halling Zerling effortlessly saw the ball over him and was demonstrably the fault for the opening goal of the hosts.
Seaman offered his two cents and noticed: “The only thing with Sanchez is that he is brilliant with his feet and he makes a number of really good saves, but he throws them in. His decision to get out of the ball To get it from Haaland was shocking, but then, the way he tried to recover when Haaland went over him chip.
“Watch his dive, he suspects and dives to the right. If he gets up, because he is a big guy and stands still and waits for the ball, he saves it. But because he is gone early, he tried to do a upper hand and is nowhere in the neighborhood “
Arrizabalaga spent two seasons in the first Chelsea team before being replaced by Edouard Mendy in 2020. He looked up from the couch while the blues won the Champions League in 2021, but played an important role in their subsequent UEFA Super Cup victory, causing several penalty to shoot.
He earned his way back to the side after the departure of Tuchel in 2022, but was lent to Real Madrid when Mauricio Pochettino arrived in 2023. Fast-Forward 12 months, and he was lent again, this time to Bournemouth, with new boss Maresca chosen to place his belief in Sanchez and Jordenen.
Kepa has only admitted 21 goals in 17 Premier League matches and this season has five clean sheets for Bournemouth compared to Robert Sanchez, who has let in 27 goals of 21 games and has a less clean magazine.
