Chelsea is looking for a new winger and has approached Borussia Dortmund to try a deal for the impressive Jamie Gittens for the club World Cup
Chelsea has opened conversations with Borussia Dortmund about a deal that would see their sought after winger, Jamie Gittens, return to the club with whom he had a short enchantment in his Academy Days.
Gittens, 20, was the subject of the blues in January and also has other Premier League freeders. Both Arsenal and Liverpool are credited with an interest in gittens, with all three clubs on the market for more firepower this summer.
However, it is Chelsea who have formalized their interest by approaching Dortmund for conversations with a view to closing a deal for the upcoming club World Cup.
According to De Telegraaf, it is expected that Gittens will attract offers in the £ 50 million region this summer in the midst of interest in his services.
The wing player has a release clause for a similar amount in his contract, which, if activated, would mean that the English Under-21 star of England is free to negotiate a switch to Chelsea, which previously had a short time in their academy.
Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle have also been linked to Gittens in recent weeks after a fantastic season for the Wideman in Germany.
And in a boost for the lovers of the wing players, Sebastian Kehl, the sports director of Borussia Dortmund, has already hinted that the club is willing to cash in in the summer when serious offers come in the summer.
Speaking with Sport1 last month, he said about Gittens: “There is definitely a market for him. He is a very exciting player. We will keep discussions soon. If offers come in, we must deal with it.”

Chelsea would like to add a winger to the Enzo Maresca team while they are preparing to return to the Champions League fold next season. They are also interested in Manchester United's Alejandro Garnacho, who is free this summer to leave Old Trafford and was heavily connected to the blues in January.
It remains some Chelsea's interest in a deal for gittens means for Jadon Sancho, who used the 2024-25 season with the Londoners.
The blues have an option to permanently make that deal for £ 25 million, but they can also refrain if they are willing to pay Manchester United a fine of £ 5 million.
