Chelsea transfer latest: Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi and Trevoh Chalobah eyed as potential centre-back options

Chelsea want to sign Crystal Palace and England central defender Marc Guehi.

The west London club are looking for a replacement for Wesley Fofana, who Enzo Maresca confirmed could miss the rest of the season with a serious hamstring injury.

Newcastle made several attempts to sign Guehi last summer but were unable to agree a fee with Palace.

The 24-year-old started his career at Chelsea's Cobham Academy before joining Palace for £18 million in the summer of 2021. Guehi has 18 months left on his current contract at Selhurst Park.

Another option Chelsea are considering is to bring back Trevoh Chalobah from his loan at Palace.

Keep an eye on Chelsea's departure

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports News:

“Chelsea will always be open to do business depending on whether the right opportunity presents itself. We also have to look at possible departures. I am not saying that Chelsea is in danger of breaching the PSR, but every club will have that in the background lurking.” .

“They will be concerned about making sure they don't do any deals before June 30, to make sure they can go into the summer and really go for it.

“There could be an opportunity if the right offers came to Chelsea to let some of their players leave. I think they will listen to offers from players like Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka and Cesare Casadei. Enzo Maresca did that too.” We have made no secret of that while we are talking about Guehi: keep an eye on a possible departure from Chelsea.”
