Chelsea unwilling to match AC Milan’s £25M price tag for Maignan

The blues will compete again in the Champions League next season after being fourth in the Premier League and are in conversation to sign the French International who would compete for the number one place under manager Enzo Maresca. Maignan would be available for around £ 25 million if he enters the last year of his contract with AC Milan, but reports state that the blues find that price unacceptable.

Maignan, who will be 30 next month, is seen as interested in moving to Stamford Bridge, where he will stand against Filip Jorgensen and Robert Sanchez for a position between the posts. The keeper came to AC Milan from Ligue 1 Side Lille in 2021 and has so far made 163 performances for the club for the club in what has been an impressive few years with the Italian giants.

Journalist Ben Jacobs has issued his last statement about the situation and suggested that Maignan would be a huge help for the upcoming Club World Cup, which starts in just a few weeks, giving the transfer a light deadline.

“The situation with Mike Maignan remains the same. Milan wants £ 20-25 million, as reported yesterday.

“Chelsea will probably offer less, but add-ons can be important if the parties can get closer to the financial data.

“Maignan is an opportunistic target, but Chelsea also remains satisfied with their existing keepers and will still rank them during the Club World Cup and for the season as planned. The real priority is still a left wing player.

“It will all come down to the question of whether Milan wants to run the risk of losing Maignan on a free or feeling that other lovers are seduced by their asking price. Player who is open to Chelsea.”

Chelsea will probably discharge a few keepers when he comes in with Djordje Petrovic who is interested in West Ham United and Kepa Arrizabalaga who, after his Bournemouth, still in the books in the books, because reports suggest that he will leave the club this summer.
