Chelsea urged to sign Sancho for £25m, despite poor season, by former star

A former Chelsea star has called on his old club to put their confidence in Jadon Sancho and to sign him permanently this summer.

Sancho arrived at Manchester United at the start of the season in a deal with an obligation to buy it at the end of the campaign for £ 25 million.

Mail Sport, however, revealed last month that Chelsea has the option to send Sancho back to Old Trafford if they are willing to pay United £ 5 million in compensation.

Sancho has ended a disappointing season at Stamford Bridge and only scored twice, giving Chelsea a difficult decision to make his future.

But Shaun Wright -Phillips – who played for Chelsea between 2005 and 2008 – has urged the blues to stand at Sancho, and even suggested that a change of position could help the international of England to find the top form.

“Perhaps in the Premier League he is not a winger,” Wright-Phillips told Genting Casino. 'He is perhaps more a number 10 or an attacking midfielder in terms of getting the ball in different areas instead of always trying to go past people.

'His future may be better through the center, but that we still have to discover.

'If Chelsea takes risks on the number of players they take risks, I don't think he's bad. We know what he has already done in a game. If he brought his way back, you have a player in your hands. '

Sancho consistently has difficulty delivering in the Premier League after he came to United in 2021 for £ 73 million.

He finally seemed to settle back in life in England when he produced four assists in his first three league games for Chelsea, but his goal statements have dried up and he has not found it since December.

Wright-Phillips admits that Sancho has to do more, but it is still certain that he can fulfill his potential in a Chelsea shirt that is making progress.

'It looks like it [Chelsea] Buy with potential in mind and what players can be or become, “said Wright-Phillips.

“We all know Jadon's potential. If Chelsea were to work like Chelsea worked, they would normally sign him because they know what he is capable of and they have seen him do it.

'But I think what is not helping right now is that he not only scores, but that he does not create enough.

“Cole Palmer, he doesn't play so well. He still has made 45 strange opportunities for his teammates, do you know what I mean?

'You can't play well and still let things happen, with small flashes and small moments. At the moment, for whatever reason, that simply does not happen for Sancho. '
